MUSIC INTRO:
“Jennifer McNutt is one of a kind!” Greet Ramakers, Celebrity Interviewer. More here.
Whether singing her own songs, which you will wake up singing, or performing songs by Tori Amos, Gnarles Barkley, CCR, The Fray, Jewel, Nirvana, or Gwen Stefani to name a few. Jennifer McNutt will keep your attention or make you want to dance.
She has played solo shows, as a duo, trio and full band in California, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Montana, and Ohio. And performed for 2000 riders at the AIDS LIFECYCLE Benefit in Santa Maria, California.
“Songwriting, telling a story, is one of my favorite things to do. I started writing poems when I was a child and into my teens. I would sing all the time, hum, whistle and from the age of 5 on, I wanted to get my hands on every musical instrument I saw….”
LIFE EVENTS:
Jennifer McNutt was born in a small modest, suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio.
She scraped together $100 to buy her first guitar at the age of 15 and used a tiny Casio keyboard. She sat in her room for hours, making demos on cassette tape. Listening and singing to records of Michael Jackson, Billie Joel, Kiss, Bon Jovi, Joni Mitchell, etc and any classic oldies music she could get her hands on.
As a young teen, she and some friends, started a garage band learning songs from Iron Maiden, Metallica, Danzig, and more. She took guitar lessons in high school and played solo acoustic gigs soon after graduation in the Midwest until moving to Los Angeles in the early 2000’s. She continued performing.
“What people didn’t know was that at times, I had tremendous pre-performance anxiety and stage fright that could start days before a gig and last through the first song or so. This really hampered my ability to grow as a performer and expand. In 2018, I felt I finally made some steps passed this.”Read more here.
November of 1997, just before Thanksgiving a dear friend of Jennifer’s, Aaron Ziller was murdered at a party, she and numerous close friends were to attend but didn’t. A number of her songs were inspired by Aaron, but her tribute to him has been called “Aaron’s Song” While living in LA, she reworked it and other w/ Pat Robinson, RIP. It has been an important lesson about not taking life for granted and being positive even in the face of tragedy. For more on Aaron’s story.
Sony BMG, will be adding this and other tracks to their catalogue and administering Pat’s share.
CAREER DETOUR:
After moving from Los Angeles in the late 2000’s with the intention to move to Nashville, Jennifer got a job and started training and ultimately teaching Mixed Martial Arts in Cincinnati. For the next 10 years or so, Jennifer became an accomplished martial artist, self defense instructor/speaker and worked in the business world as an IT Project Manager for IP Telephony systems. During this period, she didn’t create much musically. “I didn’t write or pick up my guitar much, over the course of 10 years.”
WHATS NEXT?
For the last number of years, Jennifer has re-centered her life around building upon her music income and expanding her songwriting craft. (See Below) Her goal is to continue to grow as a Producer, Songwriter, sell songs to Major Recording Artists, Commercial Ad use and continue to place songs in TV and Film. She’s also considering performing on a more regular basis. For credits, click here.
